PASTOR WILL CRAWFORD
We are excited to announce that Pastor Will Crawford has accepted the call to the position of lead pastor at The Island Church. The board is working out the details of his start date and transition.
THIS SUNDAY 10/14
Stories are powerful. Every culture has them. The best of stories have a lesson behind them. Jesus told stories, which in the Bible are referred to as “parables”. Parables are stories with a spiritual meaning. They help connect things we are familiar to with things we may not understand…at first. This week we will be starting a series on the parables of Jesus. Join us as we explore some of His stories together.

GREAT COMMISSION WOMEN - GIVING PROJECT
West Africa has one of the highest under-5 years of age child mortality rates in the word, with one in five children never reaching his or her 5th birthday. We are making Mama Packs which are essential packs to help the nurse/midwife dress the new baby. Ways that you can help:
1. Bring items individually. A pack includes new or gently used: T-shirts/ kimono or a onesie, soft hat, socks/booties, bib, and a receiving blanket.
2. Make your own pack (fold flat and pack in a gallon-sized zip-lock bag)
Contact Joan Wong or Deb Peplinski if you have any questions.
PRAY FOR OUR PASTOR
As our search closes, let us pause to rejoice and give thanks!
· We are so grateful to our Island Church prayer partners, and for the staff for all you’ve done in the interim.
· We give thanks to God who is sovereign, our provider who has been faithful.
· We remain in prayer, as we await Pastor Will’s arrival.

KID’S CHECK SYSTEM
Attn: Parents who have kids in our Children’s Church program!
In an effort to keep our children safe, we have invested in a Kid’s Check System. Please register your child this Sunday if you haven’t already for this new check-in system for children’s church. Children’s Church starts at the beginning of the service now so check your child in downstairs before the service.
Life Groups meet throughout the week all over the South End. Life Groups are intended to be more than just an evening with friends, they are designed to foster transformational environments where people can journey and do life together wherever life happens. We encourage you to find a group that is the right fit. Whether you are new to our church or have been here for a while, we encourage you to visit one or as many groups as you would like. Once you are settled in a group, dig in and rejoice in doing life with one another, all the while making a big deal out of Christ.
Contact Pastor Luis if you would like more info about getting involved in a Life Group - email@example.com

"What happens when we live God's way? He brings gifts into our lives, much the same way that fruit appears in an orchard- things like affection for others, exuberance about life, serenity. We develop a willingness to stick with things, a sense of compassion in the heart, and a conviction that a basic holiness permeates things and people. We find ourselves involved in loyal commitments, not needing to force our way in life, able to marshal and direct our energies wisely". (Galatians 5:22-23 The Message)
