Our Story

How it all started...

It all began in a little white house near the corner of Saratoga and New De Bruyn Ave.  Evangelist Lyle Peterson came to Whidbey Island to hold meetings and later became the first pastor of The Church of Christian Fellowship.

Expanding the vision...

In 1961 a band of faithful men and women had the vision and the faith to step out and purchase the property at the entrance to the city of Langley on Sixth and Cascade. The church joined the Christian and Missionary Alliance denomination in 1965 and became known as The Christian and Missionary Alliance Church of Langley.  In 2009 the church changed its name to The Island Church of Whidbey.  Over the years the church has faithfully served the local community through children & youth programs and compassionate ministries like the Soup Kitchen.

Where we are headed...

God has some amazing things he wants to do in and through us as a people. As the Lord stretches us spiritually, we seek by his Holy Spirit, to become a more effective church in how we love and care for each other and how we reach those who have yet to cross the line of faith.

We are working toward being a body of believers who people see as the first-place broken people come to, not the last. We are striving for a day where our love for one another will be our calling card to others around us who will know we belong to Jesus because of the love and grace lived out in community with one another.
